Opening hours

The Box is open 10am-5pm Tuesday-Sunday and Bank Holidays, including Monday 1 May (early May bank holiday) and Monday 8 May (bank holiday for the coronation of King Charles III).

Admission is free! You don't need to book a ticket, unless you'd like to book a space in the Cottonian Research Room.

The Box Kitchen & Bar is open Tuesday-Sunday and Bank Holidays at the following times:

Join us from 10am-4pm (drinks until 5pm) Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday and from 10am-8pm Friday-Saturday.

The Little Box is open 9.30am-3.30pm Tuesday-Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays.

The Cottonian Research Room is available as a research space all day on Tuesdays (10am-1pm and 1.30pm–4.30pm) and afternoons Wednesday-Friday (1.30pm–4.30pm) and selected Saturdays (1.30pm–4.30pm) throughout the year.

Collections available for research, by appointment.

Our shop is open 10am-5pm Tuesday-Sunday and Bank Holidays.

• Closed from Saturday 23 until Tuesday 26 December
• Open Wednesday 27, Thursday 28,Friday 29 and Saturday 30 December
• Closed from Sunday 31 December to Monday 1 January 2024
• Open as normal from Tuesday 2 January 2024
